Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance
The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is a collaborative network advancing energy efficiency in the Midwest to support sustainable economic development and environmental preservation. In the 13-state region, MEEA drives the adoption of sound energy policy, promotes and pilots emerging technologies and facilitates program best practices.
MEEA designs and/or facilitates regionally coordinated energy efficiency programs, including:
- Building Operator Certification (BOC) – a professional development program for operations and maintenance staff working in public and commercial buildings, consisting of a series of training courses on the energy and resource efficient operation of buildings;
- Illinois Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®, a statewide whole home program that aims to improve the comfort, safety, efficiency and value of Illinois homes;
- Lights for Learning (L4L) is MEEA's premiere energy efficiency education program for K-12 students, fusing opportunities for hands-on education, fundraising, and community involvement;
- Savings Through Efficient Products (STEP) a modified direct install program through which qualified Illinois public facilities receive free energy saving products and a suite of materials and incentives to make deeper energy retrofits possible;
- the Lighting Utility Midwest Exchange Network (Midwest LUMEN) a collaborative network that connects utility program administrators, planners and others throughout the region to leverage resources, engage in strategic planning, and coordinate program efforts;
- HVAC SAVE, a residential quality installation and quality maintenance program based on innovative training and software.
