Alliance Urges Passage of Key Energy Efficiency Investments
WASHINGTON – The Alliance to Save Energy released the following statement from President Paula Glover after the recent announcement that energy and climate may not be part of budget reconciliation legislation.
“We are disappointed to learn that historical investments in energy efficiency may not be part of budget reconciliation legislation should the package narrow in focus. As the U.S. and world face rising energy prices and a changing climate, energy efficiency investments can address both, including 40% of the carbon emission reductions required under the Paris Agreement,” Glover said.
“We urge Congress to expand needed energy tax incentives and other programs necessary to impact energy cost for consumers while also addressing the urgency of climate change. Key priorities for the Alliance include expansion of energy efficiency tax incentives to encourage consumers, businesses, homebuilders, and others to purchase and use highly efficient products and equipment; passage of rebate incentive programs such as Hope for Homes; energy efficiency retrofitting of the nation’s critical facilities; energy industry and efficiency sector job training and development; and other areas.”
“The Alliance looks forward to our continued work with Congress to effectively tackle climate and bring energy savings to consumers through energy efficiency investments.”
