Experienced Energy Industry Leaders Join Alliance Board of Directors

Release Date: Friday, November 12, 2021

WASHINGTON – The Alliance to Save Energy welcomed Senior Vice President of Corporate Citizenship at Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) Rick Thigpen and Director of Customer Programs and Assistance at SoCalGas Brian Prusnek to the Board of Directors on Thursday, Nov. 4.

“I’ve had the privilege of knowing both of these leaders for a number of years, and I know from experience that they will bring passion, dedication, and creativity to their new positions on the Board of Directors,” said Alliance President Paula Glover. “Both are well-respected in this space for their emphasis on achieving the energy transition equitably and for developing customer-facing programs and company cultures that are conductive to enhanced accessibility to energy efficiency solutions.”

Rick Thigpen was named Senior Vice President – Corporate Citizenship at PSEG in July 2018 and is also chairman of the PSEG Foundation. In his role, Thigpen is responsible for driving public policy through advocacy, including government affairs, sustainability, charitable activities, and corporate social responsibility.

“It’s an honor to join the Alliance to Save Energy as a member of the Board of Directors, and I am energized by the opportunity to help the organization continue to serve our communities by helping reduce energy consumption,” Thigpen said. “At PSEG, we have embarked on an historic effort to deliver the benefits of energy efficiency to millions of homes and businesses – providing universal access to the tools to help everyone reduce their energy use, shrink their carbon footprint, reduce household expenses and creating economic opportunities while doing so. Helping customers use less energy is part of our vision for a cleaner energy future, and an essential component of the effort to mitigate the risks from climate change. I welcome the chance to support the Alliance to Save Energy and its mission.”

As Director of Customer Programs and Assistance at SoCalGas, Brian Prusnek leads the development, administration, and implementation of energy efficiency and low-income assistance policy and programs for more than 22 million consumers in Southern California. He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry across both the private and public sectors.

“I am truly honored to join the Board of Directors at the Alliance to Save Energy. SoCalGas shares the same sentiment as the Alliance’s mission and strongly believes in energy efficiency to be the key foundation in tackling the issue of climate change. As the largest natural gas energy efficiency and low-income assistance program administrators in the country, we look forward to our collaboration with the Alliance to pursue a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.”
