Ashok Gupta

Ashok Gupta has been with NRDC since 1991 where he focuses on policies relating to global warming, energy efficiency, renewables, sustainable building design, smart growth, and transportation. During former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg's administration, Gupta served as NRDC's representative to the Mayor's Sustainability Advisory Board and Energy Policy Task Force. Prior to his work at NRDC, Gupta was a senior economist for the City of New York.
He is the recipient of the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership Award for Advocacy. He serves on the Boards of Smart Growth America, PACE Nation, Building Energy Exchange, and NYC Energy Efficiency Corporation. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics and math from Georgetown University and a master's in economics from American University. He currently resides in the Kansas City area.
